Most of the photographs I've taken have been from near Kendal on the Lancaster to Carlisle mainline railway. I've ridden or walked to all of these locations. There are also some taken on the Settle to Carlisle railway.

The Lancaster to Carlisle railway was opened in 1846. Originally with a proposed route though the Longsleddale valley, with a 2-mile tunnel under the Gatescarth Pass into Mardale and thence towards Bampton, joining back at Penrith. Other alternatives were routes bypassing Shap to the east and west.
